How to Use Home Decor to Turn Your Scary Basement Into a Finished & Beautiful Space

Mon, Jul 27, 2020

Owning a home and being a parent have a lot in common. The work is never finished! It’s happened to so many of us; having an unfinished basement that is so scary the mere thought of walking down there alone makes your heart race. But as those from SoPo Cottage have shown us-  it doesn’t have to stay that way!

There are so many ways to turn a dark, scary space into a bright area for everyone to enjoy! The idea may seem intimidating at first, but the best way to start is to clean. After cleaning out your basement, it is best to do a moisture test in order to avoid sneaky leaks that may occur in the future.

After gathering all necessary materials such as a hammer, goggles, drywall, plywood, flooring, nails, and more- the next necessity is imagination. There’s no limit to how you can make your basement a comfort zone, instead of the place you want to run away from. Those at SoPo Cottage have shown that the remodeling process is hard work, but it will pay off.

In time, your vision will be able to come to life and the basement can be a bright, fun, and adored space for all. If you have kids, now your basement can be a wondrous playroom for them to enjoy!

There are many easy ways to brighten up a dark basement using interior design. You can add mirrors, choose light colored paints for the walls, install glass doors, use light colored wood for flooring, and add plants!

The decoration process is all up to you, and once you include the decorations of your choice and an IVI 3D Play Carpet that can be enjoyed for hours, your new basement has the potential to be the most enjoyed room in the house. Check out this playroom renovation by SoPo Cottage!
