How Play Rugs Improve Your Homes Décor

Tue, May 04, 2021

By Cameron Eittreim

Children learn based on their surroundings so it begs the question, am I putting enough thought into my child's play area? Play rugs are more than just a toy or a learning tool. These intricate pieces of development are designed to enhance your child's playtime into being something more than just a mess. Likewise, the addition of colorful surroundings enhances your children's learning experience. It has been scientifically proven that a colorful play area will contribute to early childhood development. Because play rugs are the most affordable addition that you can do, we are going to be examining how playing rugs can improve your home décor.

Make Your Children Feel Comfortable

Look, as adults we want our space to look “chic” and comfortable. But, having children makes it harder to accomplish this and learning at the same time. Sure, you could have an ordinary area rug but would that contribute to your child's development? Probably not. This is why a children's play rug not only improves the aesthetic but also your child's learning ability. It's no secret that children respond to bright colors, especially when it comes to their cognitive development.

In addition to making the child feel comfortable with the interior surroundings you also want to use soft textures. This can be anything from the material of the play rug to the fabric that’s used on the bean bag chairs. All of these things coincide to make the overall learning experience a much better one altogether. You can create an environment that nurtures learning and exploration without having to rearrange the rooms in your home.

A larger-sized play rug like our Farm XL-sized play rug offers a comfortable area to sit and even take a nap. When your children feel comfortable they will open up more, and this will also enable sharing with others. The play rug enhances the feeling of community and gives the children a place that they can truly feel like it belongs to them.

Children Love Bright Colors

The first thing that you are going to notice about a children's play rug is the bright colors. With the IVI World Mini City play rug for example the colors are not overbearing. There are subtle hues of brown and green that can flow with pretty much any interior design. These play rugs are designed in a way that won’t intrude with the Feng Shui that you already have to go on. Likewise, it has been scientifically proven that bright colors help to enhance your child’s early development.

A play rug has a rectangle shape, which makes it easy to fit in just about any corner or nook. The larger you go the more that you’ll need to accommodate for the play rug. But, that’s not a problem because play rugs are designed to flow with the current room décor. If anything the play rug is enhancing the overall décor and adding personalization to space. You are proud of your children and being able to show off a neat corner of their own is a nice feeling.

You also have the benefit of knowing that a play rug is a clean and sanitary area where the children can play nicely. If you have hardwood or concrete flooring these areas can contain all kinds of germs in addition to being hard to the touch. This isn’t a welcoming surface for anything much less a small child. With color in the space, your children and your friends will admire your innovative and hands-on parenting techniques.

Keep It Simple

Look, at this stage in time, your children are not going to be rocket scientists (although I’d love that). This means that you don’t want to overwhelm them with too much learning at once. Yes, you can do that, and yes it will hamper their creativity. Keep the play area of your home décor simplistic and to the point. The play rug is more than enough to generate creativity and imagination, coupled with some simple toy chests you’ll be set. Soft-to-touch surfaces are important as well, you want to shy away from hard plastics and harsh woods.

Keep the electronics to a minimum in this area, heck a play rug is comfortable enough to take a nap on. Go for traditional wooden building toys, maps that go with the play rug, and of course cars or toy dolls. The beauty of using a play rug to enhance your décor is that it can add simplicity and advancement to your parenting. An indispensable tool that will keep your children busy for hours upon hours on the days when they are stuck inside.

If you have a play rug that’s littered with toys and stuff then the children won’t grasp the premise. A play rug is more or less for developing imagination in a world where children are overwhelmed and overstimulated. If you keep this area of the room simple you’ll notice a dramatic improvement in the way that your children behave and act. When a child gets overwhelmed by their surroundings this is when they begin to act out. Behavioral changes can be almost immediate thanks to the addition of a play rug and a quiet area to enjoy.

Design a kid-friendly space.

Look, don’t try to cram everything in your life into one room. You can’t have a computer desk, kids' play area, and dinner all in the same corner. Although we’d all love to embrace tiny living the truth of the matter is that children need space. They don’t need to be all up underneath you all day and all night. This means that you need to design a kid-friendly space that’s away from the adult area and then you can interact and nurture as needed. You still want your kids to have fun but not at the expense of the adult space.

This doesn’t mean that you are going to shut your kids off to the world, but it does mean that you’ll want some personal space. Because play rugs are such a versatile piece of décor there is pretty much an abundance of design ideas that you can implement. The shape makes it easy for you to design a nook with very minimal effort. The play rug does most of the design for you with cute layouts and different themes such as the IVI Farm play rug. The variety of different themes that your children can enjoy is almost endless with the right imagination.

Bean bag chairs and the such are a nice touch but you don’t need to go overboard. Remember the days when you were a child? A comfortable play rug is more than enough for a quick midday nap after using that imagination for hours on end. If you keep the play area kid-friendly and simple you’ll notice a dramatic improvement in how your children share and learn. Setting up storage bins that are easy for your children to get in and out of help as well. There will be a lot less mess scattered across the floor and clean-up time will be easier.

Focus on the play.

A lot of parents tend to go overboard with their play area décor, and you don’t have to. At the end of the day, what are your children trying to do? Play. Which means that you should focus on play and nothing else. You don’t need to worry about doing homework, or playing on a tablet. Instead, the area should be focused on play with an assortment of toys that you know your child is going to use. Again, the play rug helps tremendously with this because it enables imagination.

While you could do an indoor swing, ball pit, or even a giant dollhouse. You don’t need to with a play rug, all you need is a few toys and imagination. Small children are especially easy to please with a play rug and you’ll notice that they are content while playing. A lot of times you might think that they need the latest toy but simplicity is better. The child can get easily overwhelmed just like an adult would, so taking the time to give them a learning experience is important.

Play rugs can enhance the décor of any room in your house, and the durability is much better than that of a generic runner. A play rug has almost an unlimited appeal of where you can use it in your home, which makes it a great tool for interior design. It also helps to continually swaddle your child in a learning experience, which a play rug can help do.

Don’t Overthink It

Your children are only small for a very limited period, which means that decorating a space for them can be very fun. But, don’t get caught up in overthinking the design or the area that you are putting together. Children are easy to please, especially the younger ones. You need to focus on getting the area tidy and simple so that you can encourage learning. The IVI 3D World play rugs are designed to enhance this learning and make it easier for parents.

Your children are stuck inside more than ever now, and a play rug is sort of a glimpse into the world. When it comes to putting an area together around a play rug you want to focus on storage and functionality. A play rug will greatly enhance the appeal of your home's décor when you do the design right. Turning your living room into a circus isn’t the way to go, and you don’t want to radiate that daycare vibe either.

Your home décor should be a reflection of you and your children and what makes that area special. Play rugs are a beautifully designed addition that when used correctly will help your children to learn better and enjoy their surroundings right at home. Just keep it simple and fun and you’ll have an interior design that’s perfect for the whole family. Plus, you can’t beat creating a quiet area where your kiddos can play and help you relax at the same time.
