Educational Play Ideas Using the Farm IVI 3D Play Carpet

Mon, Sep 21, 2020

By Karah St. Preux

There’s a reason why so many people suggest play carpets for kids. They aid in developing an abundance of different skills in early childhood such as cognitive skills, gross motor skills, visual learning skills, and more. Play has the power to do so much more than provide entertainment for children. Play has the power to teach life skills that will follow them for the rest of their lives. This week we will be showing you different ways that you can teach kid(s) using the Farm IVI 3D play carpet.

1. How to Teach About Animals

With different animals imprinted on the Farm carpet, there are so many ways to teach your child(ren) about the different animals that exist. By implementing the use of animal toys during playtime, your child will be able to imagine a whole world for themselves and the animals that they have learned about. Imitate the different sounds each animal makes and have your child guess which animal you are. You can also ask questions like “which animal makes milk?” or “which animal lays eggs?”

2. How to Teach About Jobs That Can Be Done On a Farm

Have your child pretend they’re in charge of the farm and set up tasks around the play carpet for them to complete. For example, milk the cows, collect eggs from the chickens, water the crops, and pick the ripe vegetables. By teaching child(ren) about the different jobs that can be had on a farm, your child(ren) will begin to learn more about the hard work that goes into the world around them and where the food they eat comes from.

3. How to Teach Neighborhood Hospitality

By using the 3D elements of the play carpet, you can easily teach child(ren) about different ways to enact neighborhood hospitality! Perhaps after “milking the cows” your child has to bring fresh milk to each house depicted on the carpet. This will teach kids about compassion and sharing while providing them with a fun activity to play! With all of the houses on our Farm carpet, neighborhood hospitality is something that can be taught to your kid(s) in so many different ways.
